Polyglas tape is a high-performance insulation material used extensively in electric motors, generators, and transformers. It consists of parallel fiberglass strands impregnated with polyester or polyimide resin in the B-stage (semi-cured), which fully cures during application to form a hard, durable structure.
Technical Characteristics:
- Fiberglass base: High tensile strength and elastic modulus
- Thermoset resin (polyester/polyimide): Provides heat and mechanical resistance upon curing
- Curing: Typically between 120–165°C for uniform structure
- Thermal classes F (155°C) and H (180°C); some variants withstand up to 220°C
- Resistant to moisture and corrosion after curing
Applications:
- Rotor and stator wrapping for motors
- Transformer coil stabilization
- Generator and traction motor reinforcement
- Safer alternative to metal tapes
Advantages:
- Effective high-voltage insulation
- High mechanical resistance to vibration and stress
- Lightweight and cost-effective
- Easy to apply on complex geometries
- Long-lasting performance in harsh environments
Raibod manufactures Polyglas tapes in various widths, thicknesses, resin systems, and thermal classes, tailored to customer specifications.
