Polyglas Electrical Insulation Tape

Polyglas tape is a high-performance insulation material used extensively in electric motors, generators, and transformers. It consists of parallel fiberglass strands impregnated with polyester or polyimide resin in the B-stage (semi-cured), which fully cures during application to form a hard, durable structure.

Technical Characteristics:

  • Fiberglass base: High tensile strength and elastic modulus
  • Thermoset resin (polyester/polyimide): Provides heat and mechanical resistance upon curing
  • Curing: Typically between 120–165°C for uniform structure
  • Thermal classes F (155°C) and H (180°C); some variants withstand up to 220°C
  • Resistant to moisture and corrosion after curing

Applications:

  • Rotor and stator wrapping for motors
  • Transformer coil stabilization
  • Generator and traction motor reinforcement
  • Safer alternative to metal tapes

Advantages:

  • Effective high-voltage insulation
  • High mechanical resistance to vibration and stress
  • Lightweight and cost-effective
  • Easy to apply on complex geometries
  • Long-lasting performance in harsh environments

Raibod manufactures Polyglas tapes in various widths, thicknesses, resin systems, and thermal classes, tailored to customer specifications.
